Find the Office Chairs You Need

If you own any type of business, you probably already know that a big part of ensuring that your office is both comfortable and efficient is making sure that you have the right chairs for your employees and clients. For example, when clients come to your office, do you have a comfortable chair where they can sit during their appointment or while they are waiting to see someone? How about your employees, do they have quality chairs that will keep them from developing aches and pains after a day of work? With the right chairs, you'll be able to improve your entire office environment.

What type of chair is best for use at a computer desk?

If you're looking for a great computer chair that offers plenty of comfort while still being able to protect employees from injury as well as improve productivity, it's important to choose a chair that can be adjusted for proper fit. No two people are alike, so an adjustable chair is needed in order to ensure the right fit. The chair should have a height adjustable back rest, articulating arm rests that adjust for height and angle, a seat tilt function, seat height adjustment, the ability to adjust the depth of the backrest, and lumbar support. Additionally, in order to make it easy to handle a variety of tasks from one location, a computer chair that swivels is essential.

A Chair to Fit Your Needs

Many people are now choosing computer chairs that are also ergonomic. These chairs have a number of important benefits, including the ability to help prevent sore shoulders while keeping the back and neck in proper alignment. An ergonomic chair can help reduce work related injuries as well as cut down on absenteeism. An employee with a comfortable work space as well as an ergonomic chair will also be more productive.

Chairs for Other Uses

Many office supply companies, such as Office Furniture Direct, will have a variety of different types of chairs that can be used in an office environment. You'll certainly find great wholesale computer chairs, but not all chairs will be used at a computer workstation. Other types of chairs, such as stacking chairs, comfortable chairs for a waiting area, or chairs for use in a conference room will all have an important place in an office.

While many office furniture supply companies will have a great selection of products, it's important to work with a company that also offers quality office furniture.

Make Your Older Home User-Friendly

Not every home is user-friendly. Your older house could actually be your dream home, but some things are just too inconvenient to deal with on a day to day basis. Older homes are notorious for lacking many of today’s modern conveniences, but don’t worry. The following are just a few solutions to some to the top homeowner complaints.

No Storage

Older homes offer very little when it comes to storage. Many won’t even have a closet in every bedroom. This is when it pays to be creative. Wardrobes have an antique look that will fit in beautifully with the older home styles while providing a place for clothing and accessories. Use decorative cabinets and cupboards in bathrooms, the kitchen, and living areas. They are perfect for tucking away dishes, linens, and towels as well as electronics.

No Garage

Homes did not always have an attached garage for the car, garden tools, and other odds and ends. If your older home lacks a garage, you can still create spaces to take the place of one. Sheds can be painted and decorated to match the house. They can actually be cute and charming while hiding all your outdoor equipment. You can also find metal carports online from sites like New Deal Metal Buildings that are perfect for parking your vehicle under and protecting it from the elements.

Uneven Heat

Older homes can be quite drafty. Uneven heat is a top complaint of homeowners, but there are some simple solutions. Installing a new heating system would definitely take care of the problem, but it may not be in your budget at the moment. Try using space heaters. Today’s new models are designed to be much safer, and many look like actual fireplaces. They even have the look of burning logs to add to the realism. Others are made to resemble the old fashioned gas heaters. Both of these options will fit into the décor of an older home perfectly.

These tips are simple and inexpensive, but they can make your daily life much easier. Whether your home is new or old, this information can add to your piece of mind. Once in place, you will find that your home truly is the house of your dreams.

Taking Care of Your Home

There are many factors to consider as your home begins to age. It is important to look out for signs that your home is beginning to age. Hiring professionals to take care of these problems as they arise can save you thousands of dollars. When you begin the process of selling your home, solving these problems can delay the process significantly. Try to be aware of any potential issues before you try to sell your home.

Maintain Contracts
You should always have an updated insurance policy. If you live in an area that is prone to flooding, then you should also be sure to have a flood insurance policy. Flood insurance is typically not included in a standard policy, which means you may need to purchase a separate policy. Flood insurance can also be useful if your washer malfunctions and causes damages due to flooding.

Keeping a valid pest control and termite prevention contract is also important. If your home is subjected to damage from termites, then your contract can help you control the costs of getting rid of these pests. If you do have to make repairs, then be certain to seek foundation repair companies that have experience.

Update Routinely
Try to update your home to keep it from becoming outdated. You may want to select a different upgrade every few years. Kitchen cabinets and counter tops are popular upgrades that you could complete easily. Updated flooring can also make an immediate impact on a home’s resale value. Be careful of investments that will not increase a home’s value. Upgrades that are particularly unusual or unique may not suit a potential buyer's taste.

Consider the Neighborhood
If your home is in a subdivision or neighborhood, then you should consider the upgrades that your neighbors are making. Homes in neighborhoods typically sell for similar amounts. This means that upgrades that are incredibly lavish may not be recognized for their full worth if comparable homes do not have these upgrades. If your neighbors are making similar upgrades, then the values of all of the homes in the area should rise consistently.

While owning your home can bring unexpected expenses, the feeling of having a place of your own can be rewarding. Being able to make changes to your property without having to ask a landlord is a wonderful feeling.

How To Decide Which Type Of Refrigerator To Buy

The basic purpose of a refrigerator is to keep your food fresh and cold until you are ready to eat or cook it. The idea behind it is easy enough. However, when it comes to buying a new refrigerator these days, things quickly become much more difficult. There are many different brands of refrigerators and all of them come with different styles and options. It can be confusing trying to figure out which would be best for your home and situation. To make the decision a little bit easier, below are some things to consider when comparing different refrigerators such as a sub zero refrigerator Manhattan.

Double Doors

One of the bigger features to consider when comparing refrigerators to buy is the doors. Some will have the classic style where the freezer is on top and the lower door is to the refrigerator. There is also the popular option of getting the style that has double doors. Each side door opens to either the refrigerator or the freezer. Lastly, a new option is where the freezer is a drawer on the bottom of the unit and the top is the refrigerator. Each style has its own pros and cons and which suits you best will depend on your shopping habits.

Smart-Features

If you want a new unit that has a lot of bells and whistles, then you can find many refrigerators with smart capabilities. Some have cameras that show you what is inside the unit without having to open the doors and let out the cold air. This can save you on electricity. Another feature that some people love is the ability for a refrigerator to give notice that your unit needs some repairs. When this happens, it is best to get it taken care of quickly by a professional such as the ones found at www.subzeroservicecentermanhattan.com.

No matter what type of household you have, there is a refrigerator that will suit your style and needs. They come in a multitude of sizes, styles and added features. Before purchasing a new unit, it is essential to make sure that it will fit properly in the space you have for it in your kitchen. Additionally, any doors or freezer draws will need enough room to be able to open easily without anything being in the way. The unit will also require at least an inch of clearance from every side to allow for airflow. This needs to be taken into consideration when comparing different refrigerators.

Possible Warning Signs of an Electrical Fire

It takes only a small spark from your outlet to cause a fire to break out in the middle of the night as you and your family sleeps. Many of those who survived one of these fires later said that they didn't notice any warning signs, but the chances are good that you will notice some issues and signs before one of these fires happens. Whether you live in a newer home or an older one, you need to keep your eyes out for possible warning signs that an electrical fire may occur.

Black Marks on Outlets

The next time that you start to plug in an appliance or an electronic device, take a look at the outlet. No matter what color your outlet cover is, it should be the same color all the way across. If there are any dark spots or discolorations on the outlet, this can indicate that an electrical fire occurred in the past. This is especially true of dark marks that radiate out from the center of the outlet. The fire can cause sparks or flames to escape through the holes in the outlet.

Burning Odor

One problem that some people experience is a persistent burning odor that they pick up on in certain rooms. This odor often occurs because the wiring in your home is older or not strong enough to accommodate all the electronic devices and appliances that your family uses. A burning smell can indicate one or more small fires that broke out in the past inside your walls, especially if you notice the smell one day and later find that the odor went away.

Circuit/Fuse Problems

Whether your home still uses older fuses or has modern circuit breakers, you need to pay attention to any problems with tripped breakers or popped fuses. When a fuse pops, you need to replace it with a new fuse, but if you trip the circuit breaker, you probably just turn it back on without a second thought. These problems usually indicate that your home's electrical system cannot accommodate the load of devices and appliances that you use. A Ponte Vedra electrician can do a thorough inspection of your home's electrical system, let you know if you need to upgrade that system and how much the upgrade will cost. Looking for any of these signs can help you prevent electrical fires in your home.

Three Ways to Make Your Home More Fun For Kids

If you're thinking about starting a family, have kids already, or just want to make your home more friendly to visiting families with little children, your house can easily be transformed into a fun, exciting place to play. While there are many things you can do to make sure your home is safe for children, that isn't always the same as making your home more family-friendly. After all, no kids have fun in a very safe museum where they can't touch anything. If you're looking to make your home more fun for the kids in your life, consider these changes.

Add a Pool

For the summer months, nothing beats a backyard pool for kids. Children will spend all day playing in a pool without needing a bunch of toys or accessories to make it fun. They get exercise, fresh air, and summer memories that are irreplaceable. However, getting a pool also means taking on a big responsibility including safety. For these reasons, it's best to hire a professional for your pool needs. For example, if you need fiberglass pools St. Louis County MO look for a well-respected company like Little Giant Pool to make sure it's done right the first time.

Get Indoor Furniture That's Kid-Appropriate

Kids like nothing more than running and crashing into things, which can be very frustrating for a careful homeowner. Instead of fighting their natural wild tendencies, get furniture that can take the abuse and then some. For example, a giant beanbag chair on the floor can be crashed into, jumped on, or fallen onto, all without damaging either the chair or the child. Kids also love chairs that spin, hammocks that swing, and bunk beds that can be climbed on. Make the most of their energy and harness it for safe, indoor play.

Encourage Artistic Expression

The last thing you want is a mess on your walls or floors, but there's a way to allow kids to express themselves artistically without damaging your home. Try painting a designated wall with black chalkboard paint and allowing the kids to draw with chalk. This way they can create something fun and beautiful each day without making a mess. On other walls and floors, use paint covering that is easy to clean. This will mean more fun for the kids and a lot less stress for you.

Hiring a Company to Build a CNG Station

Are you planning on building a compressed natural gas (CNG) station at some point in the near future? If the answer is yes, you need to be absolutely certain that the company in charge of the project knows what they are doing. Otherwise, you could have a disaster on your hands. There are a wide variety of companies that do this type of construction. However, not all of them have the same work ethic, skill and dependability. These are all things that you should demand from the construction company that you hire. Here are some things to consider when you are in the process of finding a company to handle the construction of your CNG station.

1. How many years has the company been building CNG stations?

It goes without saying that the amount of experience the construction company has will be a crucial factor in determining if you will hire them or not. Building a CNG station is not the same as building a fast food restaurant. This is why you should try to find a company that performs CNG station construction on a regular basis. Ideally, the company you hire should have at least five years of experience building CNG stations. This is the only way that you can ensure they will not make any mistakes.

2. Does the construction company have an outstanding safety record?

Construction sites can be dangerous places. They can become even more dangerous if you hire a company that has a spotty track record when it comes to safety on their job sites. This is why it is imperative that you look thoroughly into the background of any construction company you are thinking about hiring. Do not hire a company that has been sued for negligence or has had multiple accidents during their projects.

3. Look at some of the other CNG stations the company has built.

You would be wise to take a look at some of the previous CNG stations that have been built by the construction companies that are in the running for your project. Seeing their previous work with your own eyes will allow you to see what you will be getting for your money. You will also need to factor in the price that the company will charge. Take bids from several companies so you will be able to compare them.

Tips for Getting Your Home Ready for the Winter

As fun and relaxing as the summer is, it's not all fun and games. After all, winter and fall are always right around the corner. With that in mind, there are a few things that you and your family will want to take care of before you can really rest with complete peace of mind. Perhaps most importantly, many of best tools for protecting your home also happen to be relatively cheap, so read on for some of the best tips and tricks to getting your home ready for the winter.

Waterproof Everything

Although people usually think about rain when it comes to waterproofing their home, the reality is that snow can do just as much damage as well. While most people tend to waterproof the opposite problem areas in their home, such as the basement, there are other areas that are less commonly attended to. For instance, when's the last time you had your chimney inspected? Professional DC chimney sweep services can inspect your chimney and some, like 301 Chimney, can also help you waterproof it from future damage. Fireplaces are just as exposed to the elements as other areas of your house, so it's important to ensure they're in top condition before they're really put to the test in the winter.

Look Out for Potential Hazards

Depending on the area you live in, you might want to scout out any trees that might have weak branches. When winter comes, and those branches start getting weighed down with snow, they can pose a significant risk to both people and pieces of property. Take out weak branches now before they become an issue later.

Gutter Maintenance

It's no one's favorite job, but someone has to do it. With routine gutter maintenance, you can ensure that your home is more than well prepared for anything winter might throw at it. It might take a little bit of effort, but you'll be thanking your self when you're sitting nice and cozy in your home when the snow comes.

Although these tips may not seem like much effort at all, they can have a significant impact on how much you enjoy the winter. When everything's been taken care of, you can spend more time with your friends and family and less time worrying about damage to your home and property.

Things To Consider For Home Renovations

Home renovation may never have been more popular than it is right now. Skyrocketing new home prices, an unstable housing market, and great difficulties some homeowners are facing in the seller's market when they put their own homes up for sale are just a few reasons why homeowners are electing to stay where they are. Renovation of their existing residence can make their living conditions in their home much more comfortable, attractive, and perhaps cost-efficient, depending on the work done to the home. And indeed, renovations will increase the home's resale value, so renovations can be a winning proposition in both the short- and long-term.

Residential home DIYers enjoy taking on some projects around the house, but even the hardiest home fixer-upper will acknowledge that there are a great many projects within the home that need to be taken care of by professional contractors, individuals or businesses that either specialize in the given home renovation project that needs to be done, or at the very least has a proven track record of success in jobs related to what the homeowner is looking for.

The local handyman may be good to call for some projects, but bigger and more complex jobs should really be referred to the highly qualified professionals. Top contractors keep up on the latest technology; implement the most efficient and cost-effective methods to help keep homeowner's costs down; user only the finest parts and materials in renovation and construction projects; and so much more.

Simply paging through the yellow pages to check out the latest in home renovation contractors is now seeming to become a bit outdated. The ease, convenience, and immense amount of information that website searches homeowners can perform, with the ability to learn everything they want to know about specific contractors, within minutes, is truly the best route to go now.

For homeowners looking for home renovation professionals in their area, one terrific way of doing so is to find a website, like renovationexperts.com, that provide tremendous resources on their site, right from the moment the homepage pops up.

Website searchers should look for a company's website that has contractors from A-Z. Within a few clicks, customers should be able to input what their needs are, what their material preference is (in certain projects), their budget, and a few other variables. Ultimately, the site that will be most beneficial to the homeowner will be able to take this inputted data, and match them with just the right contractor in their area. This can prove to be the very best way to get the right contractor, and ensure their very costly investment is well attended to.

4 Ways Fresh Flowers Can Add Beauty and Elegance to Your Home Décor

Your residential roofing NYC went well without a hitch, and your home’s exterior décor looks amazing—plus, you completed some of your interior designs, but you feel like you’ve hit a wall. When you have expended all of your home décor ideas, consider adding a few fresh flowers to spruce up the beauty and elegance of your interior designs. It’s a cheaper, simpler way to add some loveliness to your home. And it gives you extra time to ponder more permanent décor solutions.

Bring a Touch of Nature Indoors

When you bring fresh flowers into your home, regardless of where they come from, you are bringing a touch of nature indoors. There is something awesome to be said for a fresh bouquet of daisies that greet you at the front door. Or, a cluster of violets, plucked from your own garden, and nestled in a small vase on the kitchen counter. Nature in and of itself is beautiful. Ergo, you bring a bit of that beauty with you to accentuate and uplift your home décor.

Pick Your Favorites in Beautiful Colors

The best part about fresh flowers is you can get them almost anywhere. From grocery stores, to your own backyard, there is no shortage of gorgeous blooms, especially in the springtime. However, the difference is that most grocery store varieties are bulk-grown with hybrids to create your favorites but in different colors. You could get a purple sunflower, a bunch of rainbow-toned roses, or a sky-blue tulip. Or, you can go au natural with the colors that are nature-made.

Natural, Fresh Fragrance in Any Room

Fresh flowers add fragrance to your rooms, regardless of how subtle that aroma will be. Your brain can naturally pick up those trace amounts of fragrance, and translate that to happiness with a healthy dose of serotonin. You can also enhance the fragrance by buying your flowers in bulk to place a fresh vase in multiple rooms of your home.

There are numerous reasons to add fresh flowers to your home décor, as you can see. However, the biggest reason, and perhaps the sweetest, is to bring happiness to your home. When you link back to nature, you automatically link back to the primal part of yourself that would love to run through a field of wildflowers, simply to feel their petals on your skin.

Things To Consider When Sourcing Suppliers For Your Roofing Needs

In a high-risk business such as the roofing industry, it becomes imperative for potential buyers, whether they are professional or first-time home buyers, to know what they are in for before signing on any dotted line.

Following below, are given several tips of advice that may help either a professional buyer or residential buyer navigate the sometimes stormy seas of roofing. While there are many seasoned, professional firms such as Southshore Roofing found  easily online, choose wisely before making one of the most costly investments in a home.

Peace of Mind

While we tend to think of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) as a one-stop source of reliable information, let the buyer beware that not all BBB listings are updated regularly, and some may have even paid for top page placement as a form of advertisement.

Better yet, a careful pre-contract search of your local zoning and building boards may help reveal the company with the most pulled permits--a very positive sign in many cases. Further search may reveal any issued citations.

Other Factors To Consider

Hopefully, a potential residential customer for roofing services will also consider the four below points before signing on the dotted line, and consider word of mouth recommendations of family, friends and co-workers as well.

1. Timeliness

Have all projects or jobs been completed in a timely manner and on schedule as promised?

2. High Quality Products

One of the most important factors to consider: who backs the products used in a roofing project. Does the roofing contractor have certification from a reputable manufacturer?  If so, proceed then with more assurance of job satisfaction.

3. Care For A Customer’s Property

Checking to see if the roofing crews are equipped with proper clothing, equipment and appropriate gear to protect an owner's property. Such gear may include plywood boards, ropes and tarps. A most vital consideration is whether they leave the premises as they found it before their arrival, especially during the dismantling or tear-off part of the project.

During the most destructive tear-off phase, the protection and safety of a customer’s property should be one of the company's top priorities.

4. Fair Price

Careful researching of industry prices, especially among other local competitors is vitally important as well. After all is said and done, choosing wisely is most vital before deciding on the right roofing contractors.

Thanks to the dynamics of today’s internet, all of the above have now become more easily done by visiting various online roofing companies and checking out their features and prices. Call now, and ask for more information as to what their company can offer the customer now.

How to Increase the Lifespan of Your HVAC System

The quality of your HVAC system will influence the comfort of your home in each season of the year. Over time, the appliance can begin to break down and have issues that develop. Here are a few tips that will allow you to maintain the product and increase its lifespan.

Get an Inspection

Hire a professional to inspect the HVAC system to find any areas that need to be repaired. The appliance should be inspected and cleaned once a year to maintain the parts and keep it running well. Most experts recommend cleaning it in the spring season to make it run at its peak efficiency during the summer months ahead. An HVAC expert can also reduce the energy bill by 15 percent, which can save hundreds of dollars on your electric bill throughout the year. The professional will also give you recommendations on how to increase the efficiency of the product when it's in use.

Avoid Overworking the System

Many homeowners make the mistake of overworking their HVAC system when the temperatures are extremely low or high outdoors. Setting the thermostat to 65 degrees can cause it to work overtime during the day, and it may never reach the temperature. The home should also be insulated to prevent the system from working too hard. Inform your family members to avoid leaving a window or door open in the home, which can cause the HVAC system to work harder than necessary. You'll also need to inspect the home to find any leaks that are present to prevent air from escaping from inside of the building.

Clean the Ducts

Cleaning the air ducts is an important step to take due to the buildup of debris and dust that should be cleaned out. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the main parts of the debris and brush out smaller pieces that are left behind. If you need to clean the entire system, hire a professional to perform the job and can usE motorized brushes and commercial equipment to complete the task in less time.

Evaluate Drainage Pipes

Determine where the pipes are located in your HVAC system to look for any issues that may develop. It's common for leaves to block the pipes or for damage to occur from ice during the winter season. If you notice any issues, hire a professional immediately to perform AC repair Tomball Texas.

When you want to increase the performance of your HVAC system and add extra years to its lifespan, you'll need to perform regular maintenance to keep it in good shape. With the right steps taken, you can avoid replacing the appliance sooner and keep your interior setting comfortable.

A New Addition To My Garden

For those who frequently visit my blog, you would already know that I am into gardening.  I don't have the luxury of space in my yard but I managed to build plant boxes to accommodate some of my collection and I have gone to container gardening, as well.  Just recently, I have developed a special interest growing succulents. I had my first batch delivered last month but I haven't figured out yet how to take good care of them. Succulents are low maintenance plants but it requires a full knowledge dealing with them if you want to be successful at growing them, like the amount of sunlight they need, amount of water, type of container and soil that you are going to use.  Too bad, I am just too busy right now to do really look into all this, but I am planning to learn more about succulents.  I also wanted to know what are the different varieties and how could I propagate them.

One thing that I like most about succulents is that these are very decorative and do not occupy a lot of space.  I could also play with the design and make them more appealing.

Here are some of my collection:

I am planning to get few more varieties. I hope I could also propagate what I currently have now since these succulents are a bit pricey.

Will post more of this in my future posts.

Decorate With Stones

Natural or engineered stone adds a sophisticated beauty to any home. Stone can be used for counter, vanity, island, bar or peninsula tops, floor or wall tiles, fireplace surrounds, shower enclosures or fire pits. The beauty comes with durability, for the stone has already been in the ground for millions of years. Stone is found in so many colors and patterns from pure black to pure white and nearly every color in between. They can show swirls and clouds of violet, brown, gold, green, blue mized with white and gray. Because of this, there’s a perfect stone piece to complement the decor of any room.

Granite
Granite is a tough rock formed in the depths of volcanoes. Besides the familiar salt and pepper coloring, granite can come in many colors and color combinations, including green, blue, violet, marble and solid black.

Marble
Marble is prized for its beauty, its coolness and its seeming ability to absorb and refract light. It is much softer than granite and is often an insert in a granite countertop. The marble insert is used by cooks to make and roll out pastry because of its coolness.

Limestone
Limestone is a lovely, porous white or beige stone made of the calcium in the skeletons of prehistoric marine animals such as coral. Travertine is a type of limestone that’s deposited by mineral springs.

Mother of Pearl
Mother of pearl isn’t a stone, but the lining of the shell of a marine animal called an abalone. It has a breathtakingly beautiful luster that reminds people of a pearl. Mother of Pearl can be part of mosaic tiles or added to engineered stone.

Quartzite
Like marble, quartzite is a metamorphic rock, which means it was changed over eons from one type of rock to another. Quartzite countertops are often not slabs of the actual stone but powdered stone mixed with pigment and a resin and formed into a slab. This allows the slab to be extremely strong and nearly perfectly reproducible in case it is badly damaged, for it was made according to a formula. Some countertops are a mix of ground quartzite and granite. Click here.

Mosaic Tiles
These tiles are tiny squares of stone or another material arranged on a mesh. Because of this, they are easy for a layperson to install.

Stone and mother of pearl are wonderful ways to brighten and beautify a home. With proper care, stone can last a century or longer.

Why Is the AC Not Cooling the House?

The heat of summer is the worst time to experience problems with your HVAC unit, but it is the most likely time for it to be noticed. Many times the problem is simple, but you need to call in a technician if it seems to be a deeper, more serious issue.

Dirty Coils

The overall efficiency of your AC unit is reduced when the coils are dirty. A technician can use an acid-based solution to remove built up dust, grime, dander and pet hair that clings to the coils. You will notice a difference right away.

Blocked Vents

Check the vents in all of the rooms to make sure items have not been inadvertently placed over the openings. You may need a technician to check for blockages in the vents. Holes in the vents can also leak the cool air out before it ever reaches the needed areas of your home.

Low Freon Levels

The substance that helps create the cool air can leak out, even with a pinhole size intrusion. This will cause ice to build up on the coils when the unit is working. You will need to have the unit repaired and recharged.

Constant Traffic

Having doors to the outside opened and closed frequently can make it seem as if the ac is not doing a thing to chill the environment. Limit the traffic, when possible, during the hottest parts of the day. You should quickly notice a difference.

Dirty Filter

The filter for your HVAC unit should be twice a year. Once at the beginning of the hot months and again before the cold sets in. You need free air movement for the unit to function properly. Dust and dander can make an ac filter dirty in a short amount of time. Check this more frequently if you have a full house and lots of pets.

Parts Breakdown

There are a few parts that can break down and need replaced on an HVAC unit. Some are more expensive than others. It is best to bring in a qualified technician to get the proper diagnosis if the unit has stopped working. trying to repair it yourself can cause more damage.

Replacing a roof is an expensive project that requires an honest assessment, a thorough and straightforward explanation of all materials and labor costs of the entire process, and a written estimate covering everything involved so that you can give an educated decision as to what is needed. It is even possible that a roof can be built to your individual specifications.

Regular upkeep, replacing shingles, repairing leaks, and doing routine maintenance is a sound investment to keep your home or business from being damaged and eventually requiring expensive fixes.

DIY Side Table

I have thought of transforming my terra cotta pot into a side table. I have not done pretty much thing except for painting it with my chosen shade of color and decorating the inside of the pot with some souvenir cash notes that were acquired from our trips abroad. We have placed some garden pebbles and painted twigs, too.

As for the top glass, I just went to a glass supply shop and have a piece of thick glass cut into my desired shape and size and voila! An instant side table.

This turned out nice as I placed it in the corner of our living room with a matching stand lamp beside it.  See that tiny blue tooth speaker on top of the side table? That was enough for me to sit, relax and chill beside that tiny table and listen to my favorite songs.  Who would need a grand hartke anyway? Lol.

Well kidding aside, simple pleasures are always made possible with simple things. I am enjoying DIY projects recently that I am always scouting for more fun ideas to decorate my home and garden.

Until my next project!

Ladder Organizer

I've been wanting to try the ladder storage solution as I've seen a lot of designs online and I find all of them so cute. It can be used for a lot of things too, not only for storage but also as interior decor. I guess it's not also very hard to do and you would not even spend too much to come up with one.  Best of all, it's space saving, too!

I've compiled some of the best designs that I really love and I am hoping that I could come up with  a piece or two.  The ladder storage design could keep a lot of your home stuff like bathroom essentials, towels, linens, shoes, books and some decorative pieces, too. I hope it could also hold the tube amp at musiciansfriend.com and in case it can't, there's nothing to worry as you would never have enough of things you could store in your stylish ladder storage.

Here are some of the design inspiration:

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa Throw Star Studded Baby Birthday Bash

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa threw a huge birthday bash for their son Sebastian recently, and it was a huge backyard blowout birthday party that included some big name guests on the list! Blac Chyna and Lamar Odom were on hand to celebrate with Wiz, Amber, and Sebastian in a superhero themed bash! Sebastian was turning four and the party looks like it was a blast!

The party looked like a ton of fun, however, there was no sign of Blac Chyna's on again/ off again love Rob Kardashian, as rumors swirl that the two, who have an infant daughter Dream together, have split for good this time. Also no sign of Val Chmerkovskiy, after he and Amber Rose split after five months of dating.

The Dancing With The Stars pro revealed on social media that he still cares for Amber, despite the fact that the relationship did not work out the way that either had planned. Amber, for her part, also took to social media to clarify rumors that she and ex husband Wiz Khalifa are back together after they were seen kissing on the red carpet at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party a few weeks ago. The gorgeous star revealed that she and Wiz are still very much divorced, but they are great friends, get along well for the sake of Sebastian and that the kiss was definitely “no big deal”.

My New Pantry Area

If there's one thing in the house that I would like to fix with a little work of art, that's my pantry area! I am a person who hates clutter and I am a big fan of  jars and almost all storage containers. Whenever I have a free time, I used to DIY some storage bins or containers out of recycable materials.  If not, I would normally visit dollar stores or thrift shops for some cute jars made of different materials.

We had the chance to do a "little make over" in our pantry area. We don't have a large space so we are only limited to installing open shelves just enough to hold some canned goods, snacks, baking and some gourmet ingredients.  Normally, when you want to improve a large space, you would have no limits as regards to your creativity, but challenge begins when you have a very limited space.

I have measured the area and requested our handyman to maximize all space available.  Open shelvings would be good for this small space, so that's what we did, however we've managed to have 2 additional shelves with doors at the bottom of the cabinet.  That's good enough for storing additional grocery items like sauces and dips that normally come in large bottles or containers.

I really love this chalkboard art which  we've personally made.  It's good to have artistic kids who could help me out with all the art works.

This is my humble project which we are able to pull off with just minimal expenses. I really love DIY projects, not only it could make your home uniquely presented, you could also save a lot on unnecessary expenses.

I heart DIY!

Home Maintenance: Improve your Curb Appeal

Whether you’re thinking about selling your home or simply want to improve its exterior appearance, you will need to up your curb appeal game. Curb appeal is how your home looks from the street, which is the first impression visitors have of your home. Thankfully, improving your home’s curb appeal is don’t not a difficult task and the following tips will help you get started.

Make It Pop

One of the easiest and least expensive way to improve the overall look of your home’s exterior is to paint the front door and shutters or time. Choose a bright and bold color to make the area stand out and draw the eye in. Just make sure to properly prepare the surface before painting.

Add Some Plants

The simple action of adding greenery – such as bushes or trees – and flowering plants is one of the most common ways that homeowners increase their curb appeal. When choosing plants, make sure to pick native species, which makes them easier to grow and care for in your area’s environment, and consider the size and affect it will have on your home.

Think Flower Boxes
To go along with the tip above, consider installing flower boxes as a way to add color to your home. The area below windows and on the railings of your front porch are the best locations for these nifty and inexpensive items. Just remember that, no matter where or what you plant, you must maintain them to keep your curb appeal up. Dead or dying plants only reduce the overall look of your home.

See to that Driveway

An asphalt driveway is a wonderful addition to your home, but it doesn’t come without its requirements. Unfortunately, too many people think that, one the driveway is installed, they can leave it and forget it. This isn’t true and any asphalt driveway will need regularly maintenance. If you find that your driveway is in the need of some TLC, consider hiring driveway pavers Arlington TX to get it looking its best.

Upgrade the Exterior Lighting

Those old, weather-worn exterior lighting does nothing to help the look of your home. Because of this, you should consider upgrading the exterior lighting. Look for light fixtures that are both functional for your needs, which means they provide adequate amount of light, and compliment the style of your house.

A Sudden Transition Of Our Lanai

My creative mind and the overflowing ideas from my kids when it comes to home decorating resulted to the sudden transition of our lanai.  The time difference between the last one and the new one is just about 2 months I think...too soon, right?

Luckily, the first time, I just decorated it with lots of potted plants so giving up some of those plants does not really cause me a lot of pain.  Well, kidding aside, I just actually relocated most of the potted plants in the garage to give way to a tiny display shelf inspired by what we saw from one of the cafes that we have visited more than a month ago.

Actually, the sudden change was also due to our plan of fabricating open shelves for our pantry area. Since we are hiring someone to do this for us, we've decided to have the all the shelves done together for both the pantry area and the lanai.  I thought that that was a good idea, so without much thinking, we have the shelves done and the result was great.

Here are the photos of the lanai before and after.

Before

After

We'll I''m happy with the final outcome as we get to put some of our unused stuff on display instead of just collecting dusts inside the cabinet. :)

The Benefits Of A Good Ventilation

Good ventilation is crucial to having a comfortable home. With proper ventilation keeping air pollutants at bay, you can protect you and your family's health. Not only this, but the right airflow gets rid of unwanted smells that come from cooking and having pets. If this concerns you, consider looking into ventilation services Newport News VA to ensure the airflow is pure and uninterrupted.

Prevent Moisture from Lingering

One of the primary reasons ventilation is so important for your home is it will control the moisture that lingers. If there is adequate airflow throughout your home, including walls and floors, no moisture collects and everything stays dry.

Wood and drywall are prone to rot when exposed to moisture. When this occurs, you run the risk of destroying the integrity of the structure. Not only can this cause structural problems, but this could also lead to mold build up. A negative impact your family's health is likely after long-term exposure.

Ways to Provide Ventilation to Your Home

There are several ways to have proper ventilation. One is natural ventilation that comes from air entering your home. Open windows and doors as often as possible. Even the cracks and holes in walls can help bring in natural ventilation.

Another way to bring ventilation into your home is through spot airflow. This occurs when exhaust fans are used to push air in or out of your home. In most cases, this happens by turning on the exhaust fan in the bathroom or above your stove.

In addition, you can have air ducts professionally installed to provide airflow. Placing these throughout the home provides several ways of ensuring air flows safely and consistently. One part of the airflow system pushes air outside. Another part brings fresh air into the house. There is also a balance between the two where air moves in and out. Use of this system also requires keeping it maintained to avoid the lurking of pollutants.

Although you might not think too much about how well your home is ventilated, it does not change the fact that this could become a problem. Since most people spend a majority of time indoors, you should stay ahead of the situation.

Being exposed to poor air quality due to molds, allergens or even smells introduces harmful substances into your home. Too much accumulation from not having a good ventilation system presents health problems for you and your family. Avoid this by getting a quality system installed today.

My Favorite Comfort Food

When it comes to home cooking, I am very particular about the preparation and cooking time not to mention the cost of the ingredients.  My objective is to be able to prepare foods that are easy on the budget and could be done in less than  no time.  For a busy Mom who takes care of everything in the house and doing freelance works at the same time, it is rather helpful to have ready cooked meals in the fridge whenever you need it.  I am not a fan of instant noodles and although I used to eat canned foods once in a while, I am not keen to having these on a regular basis.  Aside from the fact that this is not healthy, I also crave for something fresh with all the natural ingredients and do you know what is my answer to all these requirements?  Pasta!

I find that pasta are easy to cook and prepare and its not very hard to stock up on the ingredients. Best of all, you can have a lot of variation, too.  I used to prepare different kinds of pasta dishes...Spaghetti, Tuna pasta, Italian pasta, Pesto Pasta, Chicken and Garlic, Ham and Cheese, Shrimp Pasta, Carbonara, Alfredo, Pasta salad and even Baked Macaroni. I am good at experimenting and this led me to discover a lot of pasta dishes which would suit my taste, and budget of course. :)

Here are some of the pasta dishes I've made at home:

So whenever I do my grocery shopping, these ingredients are always on top of my list:

cherry tomatoes, onions, garlic, bell peppers, parsley, tomato sauces (different kinds), hot sauce, soy sauce, canned Tuna, ground beef, cheese, ham, bacon, parmesan cheese, mushrooms, all purpose cream, milk and all available herbs that are available in the supermarket.

I hope to create more pasta dishes as this is my favorite comfort food, really. :)

5 Tips for a Better Fireplace

If you're anything like most homeowners, you don't even think about your fireplace until something is wrong with it. But why wait until it's damaged or outdated to pay attention? Why not give it a little extra love and transform it into the centerpiece of your den? Here are just a few tips for a cleaner, safer and more stylish fireplace.

1. Replace Your Screen

Did you know that fireplace screens can become less effective over time? They get bent out of shape, resulting in less protection from flying sparks and embers, and they accumulate rust and grime that turns them into a real eyesore. If you're serious about improving the safety and style of your fireplace, replace your screen every now and then.

2. Clean Your Chimney

It may sound like a no-brainer, but this is another thing that homeowners tend to shrug and forget. Experts recommend cleaning your chimney at least 1-2 times a year to remove dirt, dust, cobwebs, bird nests and other animal infestations. Your smoke channel will be much safer without these roadblocks in the way.

3. Replace Your Fender

Fenders are the first things that your guests will see when they look at your fireplace. Make sure that they're attractive enough to merit the attention! An antique fireplace fender will look grand and sophisticated; a minimalist one will look sleek and modern; a crafty one will showcase your DIY skills.

4. Pick Better Wood

You don't have to spend a bundle on high-quality firewood, but you can also do better than the wet, weak branches that you scavenge from your backyard. Aim for a happy medium where your firewood burns bright and hot. You can also buy accelerating agents and special fluids that will give your wood a boost even if it isn't the best.

5. Build Better Fires

Last but certainly not least, a roaring fire will make all of your fireplace decoration worth it. But you'll need the right tricks to build it first! Look into things like andirons that can help you by circulating more air between your logs and improving the intensity of your blaze.

These are just a few tips for a better fireplace. With the right decoration and maintenance, it can become one of the biggest selling points of your home, so stop neglecting it! Take your time, give it a makeover and reap the benefits of a stylish interior design element.

Wooden Shelving Inspirations

I am fascinated lately with wooden shelving especially those that come in natural wood color.  I have visited several cafes in our place and most of these cafes have incorporated the use of woods in their storage solutions as well as in their interior designs.  I think this is the trend now when it comes to decors and interior design.  As to the cost, I think if you know how to source for good materials and you will have these custom made with the aid of a skilled carpenter, then you will find that this is not really expensive.  You may even find some nice wood pallets that could be made into such cute shelves and those are even available on a dollar or thrift store

Proper lighting of course, would be another consideration as this will definitely add elegance to your finished design.

Photos above are some of the nice inspirations when you wish to custom built some for your homes.  the best thing about wood shelving is that, it could be very flexible and easy to do. It could be made to fit every corner in your house without wasting much space.

Lanai's New Look

We've been hopping from one coffee shop to another since my son came from China last December. We both love coffees and we both love to try new things and on one of our cafe visits, we saw some nice wall decors and one thing that caught our attention is the open wooden shelves. We've thought that that would be a nice idea for our lanai and our pantry area, as well, so we immediately started with our weekend project.

The above photo is the final outcome of  the project, you will notice that we have incorporated some string lights for an added drama and effect.  As for the decors, we did not spend much on this as we just gathered everything that we have around the house. We have lots of cute little decors sitting inside the cabinets so we just made of these rather than purchasing new ones.  My son and daughter took turns in completing all the decors on the shelves and it was also a good bonding for the family.

Next will be our new pantry corner. :)

TLC for Your Refrigerator

A family refrigerator can hold hundreds of dollars of food at any given time. If this appliance fails, your food investment can spoil within hours. Avoiding any refrigerator failures is critical so try some tender-loving care provided by you and the professionals.

Wipe Down the Gaskets

Your refrigerator relies on door gaskets to seal in the cold air. If these gaskets become warped or damaged over time, cold air escapes and the motor must work harder to cool the appliance. Ideally, wipe down the gaskets once a month. Use a damp cloth with some mild detergent. Keeping the gaskets clean will encourage them to remain supple while maintaining their structure over the years.

Be Observant

Although most refrigerators seem to work without any issues for several years, you shouldn't ignore them entirely. Be observant about your appliance so that any small problems are caught early on. Look for condensation on the exterior of the unit or a build up of ice in the freezer. Contact professionals when the appliance seems to work differently than before.

Consult With Professionals

Once or twice a year, contact sub zero repair professionals for a basic checkup on your refrigerator. Any minor issues can be repaired with a small fee compared to major problems costing a lot of money. Professionals will normally clean off the coils in the back of the unit along with testing the electrical components. You can always contact the professionals between appointments if there's any issues that arise. In many cases, the appliance will last for a decade or longer when it has constant care.

Keep it Full

A clever way to maintain a strong, refrigerator motor is by keeping the appliance full. Because there's less space in the appliance, the motor doesn't have to work hard to cool the interior. A nearly empty freezer or refrigerator requires more cooling action, which wears down the motor. To further reduce strain on the motor, only add room temperature or cold foods to the appliance's interior. Storing hot food only forces the appliance to cool the interior even more in response.

With the exception of a basic hum, refrigerators shouldn't have any major noises emanating from them. If you notice a chronic sound coming from the kitchen, ask the professionals to look at it as soon as possible. These sounds may be easily fixed in their early stages. Waiting for them to subside will only cost the family more in time.
