Hiring a Company to Install Your Driveway

The largest investment in your life will most likely be your home. Therefore, you want it to always look beautiful. More importantly, you need to keep your home properly maintained so that it will go up in value. You will then be able to make a profit on it if you ever decide to put it on the market. One of the first things that a potential buyer will see is the driveway. Has your driveway started to crack due to many years of neglect? Does it have a few potholes that make your driveway look like the surface of the moon? If this is the case, you will need to get on the phone right away and call a driveway installation company. Here are a few tips that will help you decide which company you should do business with.

1. Look at some of the previous driveways the company has installed.

You need to get a good sense of the quality of work the driveway installation company is capable of performing. You will not be able to do this by only looking at photos on their website. You will need to take a trip to the homes of several of their previous clients. You will be able to see the work they did on the driveways with your own eyes. You can then decide if you would be proud having the same driveway at your own home. Companies that are walkway pavers will usually install driveways as well.

2. Take a look at the rating the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has given the company.

It is always a good idea to find out what he BBB has to say about any contractor you are thinking about hiring. They consider a wide variety of factors in order to compile the ratings they give to companies. A driveway installation contractor who has an A+ BBB rating is someone you should seriously think about hiring.

3. Does the company have insurance and a license?

You should only entrust the installation of your new driveway to a contractor who can show you a valid license. This will prove that he has passed all of the classes that contractors are required to take. It is also vitally important that the contractor show you his current proof of insurance. This will cover any damage that might occur during the installation of your driveway.

Creative Wall Art

More than a month ago, we have introduced an improvement in our events place. From the original Al Fresco, we have shifted into an enclosed air conditioned area.  We have put up a wall in front and since we were under time constraint and also financially tight during that time, we were challenged to be creative and came up with DIY decors.

Below here is an example of what my son did for the front wall near the entrance. Those black lamps, he painted himself on a styro material and cut it out to have a 3D effect. The yellow part (light rays) were hand painted directly on the wall. It doesn't cost much but surely added life to a boring white wall. :)

I will be featuring more of our DIY decors soon.

Three Tips for Getting Started With Your Small Business

Starting a small business can be a risky venture, and entrepreneurs need to make good choices at every step along the way in order to succeed. In fact, some experts state that the average new small business stands only a fifty percent chance of succeeding after the first year of business. Some people fail because they have not given their plans a full thinking through before they began their venture, and others fail because they do not adequately plan for the vagaries and exceptional circumstances that naturally befall a new business. Don't fall into these traps. With good planning, your small business can beat the odds and succeed.

First of all, have a realistic idea about the odds you are facing and the financial risks you are taking. Most new small business owners are not able to pay themselves a salary for the first months or years of operation. Make sure that you have the resources to fully support yourself while you begin your new venture, or else consider keeping an alternative method of funding while you build your small business. Watch out for any sort of luxuries or other unnecessary payments while you are budgeting for your small business.

Similarly, make sure that you take advantage of all of the saving available to you when purchasing the needed tools for your new business. Do your research before making any large purchases and don't waste money on anything. Usually, the best deals will come from local companies that specialize in the product you need. For example, if you need wholesale computer chairs for your office space, look for an established company like Office Furniture Direct for the best deals. By making wise investments early on in your small business, you can save your money for future expenses that may crop up unexpectedly down the road.

Finally, make sure that you reach out to all of the people in your community and elsewhere you may be able to help you out. Talk to your local chamber of commerce or other organization that works with local small businesses. You can network with other small business owners, make partnerships with others in your community, and learn more about how to succeed in your area. Don't be afraid to look for mentors or to ask for some advice. Your small business deserves your best efforts.

Unique Curtain Designs

It's been years since I dressed up my windows with new curtains.  I was focused into saving for the longest time and I just thought that I still have few sets of nice curtains anyway. However this year, if budget permits, I would like to dress up my windows once again. Christmas is just around the corner after all and I've been dying to put up a nice Christmas decorations this year as well. This plan is always being postponed from the past years due to a tight budget because of my non stop projects.

Last year, I just put up my old set of curtains in the living room...

Not bad huh? But given the chance, I would like to make this year more special. A lot of things had been happening to me and my family this year and I would like to celebrate these milestones by putting up festive mood at home.  Perhaps, I could invite some family members to drop by for an intimate celebration.

I am thinking of something different for my new set of curtains and at the same time, something that won't hurt my pocket that much.  After all, not all things that are expensive are pretty and not everything that is cheap is ugly, am I right? :)

Looking into these designs:

For my kitchen, I love to do something like this:

Or this one....oh my, this is so cutie! :) Shabby Chic..that is!

For the living room, I think I would still be using my old see through white curtains but I may just be adding a cute valance to match those.  Cheaper that way isn't it? :)

I am now excited to shop for nice fabric prints for my curtain project.

Ciao!
