Sprucing up the Outdoors for Spring

It is that time of year again when the snow melts and leaves behind a lawn that will need some tender loving care before the long days of summer arrive. A little time and effort spent now will pay off later on with a yard that the entire family will be able to enjoy spending time in.

The Grass

You want the grass to be a lush, green backdrop for all of the other landscaping you will be doing. A good fertilizer will bring out the best in your lawn along with a reliable weed killer to keep unwanted plants from multiplying. If this all sounds a little out of your league, you can turn to the professional lawn care Sewickley PA has to offer like the services from Tuma Lawn Service & Landscaping, Inc.

The Flower Beds

Your next step is to clean up all of the flower beds around your home. Remove all leaves, sticks, and other debris left behind from the long winter season. Apply a fresh layer of mulch to brighten up tired looking areas. Pull any dead plants, and select new annuals to fill in among your perennials. It is helpful to choose a color scheme in order to keep everything coordinated.

The Finishing Touches

The finishing touches will make your lawn stand out. Place solar lights along walkways for added interest and safety. Planters filled with brightly colored flowers will perk up porches and decks, and potted trees help fill in empty spaces. Use water fountains and small ornamental pieces where plants have a hard time growing, but be careful not to overdo it with these items. You will also want to take a few minutes to trim grass back from sidewalks and drives for a professional look.

Once you have taken care of these main areas, you will be ready for summer’s arrival. You’ll have a healthy, beautiful lawn that you’ll be pleased to share with family and friends throughout the warmer months.

Safari Themed Kiddie Party

The client in our event's place had requested for a Safari themed Kiddie Party after choosing the basic birthday package, so our design team came up with a very simple design that would not hurt their budget.  As for the normal kiddie parties, presence of colors is very important to make the area attractive ant catchy so we made sure that there will be a burst of colors!

I'm sure anybody would agree that it's very easy to put up a themed party decors if you have the required budget but having a theme with just a very limited budget is really a challenge. I was satisfied with the sweet station that we had put up for baby Lucas's first birthday though and even her Mom was very pleased with the result.

Here it is:

I always find great pleasure in doing things that I love and designing/decorating is definitely one of them. :)

Quick and Easy Home Makeovers

Everyone grows tired of their surroundings from time to time. Luckily, there are several ways you can quickly transform the rooms in your home for a fresh new appearance. Try the following ideas to give your home a much needed makeover.

The Kitchen

Something as simple as switching out the towels, pot holders, placemats, and chair pads for something in a new and bright color can completely transform this room. Look for vases or wreaths created with silk flowers to lighten the mood, and add window treatments in a new style. Even small appliances in vibrant colors can make a difference.

The Family Room

This space is frequently used and can look worn and tired. Freshen it up with items like new curtains, throw pillows, and the area rugs Manchester NH retailers like PRG have to offer. Clean up clutter with decorative baskets and covered storage bins that serve double duty as footrests, and invest in an entertainment center that will keep things neat and tidy.

Bedrooms

The quickest way to completely makeover a bedroom is to purchase new bedding. You will find “bed in a bag” sets that have a coordinating comforter, sheets, pillow shams, and throw pillows already put together for you or you can buy each piece individually. You can often find matching window treatments as well. Use wall art and throw rugs to further update this room.

The Bathroom

Most bathrooms are in neutral colors already so it is easy to change things up. Pick a new color palette and buy towels to match. A coordinating area rug ads warmth under foot and softens this room that has so many hard surfaces. Soap dispensers, toothbrush holders, and shower curtains will further brighten the room.

These ideas are quick to do and will give the rooms in your house a fresh new look and feel. Try one or all four. You will be surprised what a big difference a few simple changes can make.

3 Things to Know About Furnace Repairs

If you’re having problems with the heat in your home, it might be time to schedule a Greensboro furnace repair. There are a few things to know about repairs to ensure you get the proper level of care.

Problems Don’t Go Away on Their Own

You may not have the money for a repair. As a result, you decide to put it off, hoping it will go away on its own. Problems aren’t going to work themselves out when it comes to equipment. Whatever is going on with your furnace needs attention. If you ignore the problem, it could result in a bigger (and more expensive) problem. The best thing for you to do is schedule an appointment the moment you notice that something is wrong.

Many Repairs Can Be Avoided with Maintenance

Regularly scheduled maintenance is a good idea for all types of equipment. The furnace in your home is responsible for doing a lot. When it’s not in use, it can accumulate dust and dirt that will burn once the unit is lit again. With maintenance, a technician can identify problems and take care of them. Various issues can be caught early enough that you never even notice a problem.

Not All Companies Charge the Same

When you are looking for a furnace repair, it’s important to note that the cost of repair can be dramatically different based on the company that you call. Parts and labor can vary significantly. As such, you always want to work with a company that promotes competitive rates. Further, you should get a written estimate prior to having any work done.

It’s important to do your due diligence when it comes to home maintenance. At some point or another, your furnace will need a repair. By scheduling maintenance and calling for a repair as soon as possible, it will make it easier for you to reduce the cost of the repair.

Is Your Home Ready For Spring's Wet Weather?

Children everywhere learn the famous nursery rhyme that says "April showers bring May flowers," and homeowners know that there's truth to this statement. While spring weather can be wonderful, thanks to long, warm afternoons and cool evenings, it can also bring a huge amount of rain onto your home. Don't wait until the rain gets going in full force before you prepare your home for the wet spring weather. Instead, consider this advice and get ready for the coming spring season.

The single most important thing that you can do to prepare for the spring rains is to make sure that your roof is in good repair. Even a small tear or hole can lead to leaks, which can cause a number of lasting problems. A leak can even lead to the development of black mold, which can be very unhealthy for you and for your family. Act now to make sure that your roof is in good shape by having it inspected and fixed if necessary. Use a local professional contractor to get your roof ready. For example, if you need roofing St Louis, call a respected company like Angle Roofing to get the job done on time.

Next, look at your gutters and make sure that they're ready to go. Often, gutters get clogged with leaves and other debris that falls during the autumn and winter seasons. This can cause a blockage in the gutters and can even damage them. This leads to overflowing water and leaks, which can cause flooding around your home. This flooding can even damage your foundation and cause lasting problems for your house and the ground around it. Clean out your gutters before the rain starts and make any repairs that are necessary now.

Finally, check the foundation of your home. Look for any signs of damage from the severe winter weather that could be exacerbated by rain. Similarly, look for any signs of insects or other pests. Call for professional help if necessary to get pests under control. Then, relax and enjoy the spring.

Decorating Using Recycled Materials

This photo showcased our design using recycled materials.  Those old tires which we just obtained from a nearby vulcanizing shop was given free.  We had those tire painted with colors that would match our color theme then ask a small shop to fabricate for us a glass top and voila! we now have a gorgeous center table.

Oh..and those elegant looking crates?  They were used to be old crated used for fruits and veggies which we bought for a very minimal price.  The were sanded to have a better finish and coated them with plastic varnish.  After, we just bought some string lights to achieve that cozy look. :)

Creativity is always the key to decorate with nearly zero budget, thus I don't believe in what most people claimed that everything nice is always expensive.

What do you think?
